Spinal Decompression Therapy (DTS) is the most comprehensive, safest and comfortable treatments available. Patients often report that they fall asleep during treatment sessions. The worlds’ largest manufacturer of hospital based rehabilitation equipment, with over 58 years of experience, produces the Spinal Decompression Therapy system. Chiropractor Inner west

A DTS treatment is a non-invasive disc therapy with more than 50,000 patients being treated annually. DTS is a comprehensive program of the newest traction techniques with targeted “core” stabilization. This therapy affects the disc as directly as possible without surgery. In the majority of cases, patients experience long-term relief of their pain when they complete the entire program of treatments, which consists of 20 office visits in close succession. In fact, clinical results of this type of therapy have been effective in over 75% of patients treated.

A gradual breakdown to the foundational support of your back is what puts undue stress on the discs and leads to pain and loss of function. The DTS system creates a controlled unloading of the vertebrae to decrease disc pressure, thus increasing blood and nutrient exchange. This exchange of fluids is something that the damaged disc desperately needs to help it heal, from the inside out.

The three phases of Spinal Decompression Therapy are; Treatment, Stabilization and Support. We typically treat three times a week for one month, transitioning from passive to active treatments as you respond. Most patients are released from treatment after eight weeks. The best advantage is that you are able to continue working during the entire treatment program, so there is no loss of income. source: kennyclinic

An effective workplace wellness program focuses on prevention and chronic disease management utilizing self-management. Dr. Ron Goetzel, Principal Investigator (PI) of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reports that if employers can reduce health risk factors by less than 0.2%, they can earn back the costs of wellness programs over a five year period.

The Editor in Chief and President of the American Journal of Health Promotion, Michael P. O’Donnell, PhD, MBA, MPH, believes that self-management ability comes when people have the right learning experiences and access to environments that make positive health practices easy.

In order to help employees improve self-management capabilities and reduce health risk factors:

get management on board;

make programs convenient;

provide a budget; and

involve the family and community.

Wellness programs require the support of the entire community. Employees are less likely to participate if management does not set the example. Getting family involved is also key. How easy is weight loss when family is not supportive or participatory?

Employees should not have to chose between work and wellness.

Traditional Oriental Medicine can assist almost anyone along a path towards health and balance. Using a holistic approach, the Traditional Oriental Medicine practitioner seeks to address not only the symptoms, but the source of distress as well. This subtle guiding of energies within the body can emphasize the individuals own healing abilities – without the use of prescription medications, which will often reduce symptoms while failing to address the source of the dysfunction. Traditional Oriental Medicine can benefit people of any age or physical make-up. It can provide the key to unlock the body’s own healing abilities so you can live a happy, healthy, productive life!

The shoulder is one of the body’s most versatile joints and can move in many directions. This versatility, however, allows for greater instability thus creating a greater chance of injury.

Diagnosis of the shoulder comes from the history as well as physical examination findings. Approach to treatment is always the same in that the goal is to create balance within the muscles and ligaments of the shoulder girdle. For example, subacromial bursitis is an irritation of the subacromial bursa (fluid filled sac). Chiropractor Inner West

Irritation of the subacromial bursa can be caused by superior migration of the humeral head (arm bone goes up) which presses into the supraspinatus muscle which presses into subacromial bursa which is compressed into acromion and coracoacromial ligament. These increases in friction cause pain. For this specific problem, treatment would be focused on muscles that assist in the downward pulling of the humeral head as the arm is raised. These specific muscles would be the Teres Minor and Subscapularis. Treatment would consist of specific extremity adjustments, Active Release Technique and shoulder exercises.

It would be too difficult to write out all diagnoses/treatment procedures. However, as stated above treatment for the shoulder is a matter balance. One must first look for the patient’s identifiable painful region but also search out the counteracting weak/taught muscles that caused the painful situation to begin.

The structures above are of the posterior and anterior shoulder girdle. As one can see there are many structures to take into consideration when treating the shoulder. Don’t delay your care, if you have had care for your shoulder with less than optimal results, remember did the doctor address all issues of diagnosis and treatment? If not, schedule yourself for an appointment today.
Notice the supraspinatus tendon as it passes under the spur at the end of the clavicle. This is the classic supraspinatus impingement due degenerative joint disease.

Below is a side view of shoulder joint without the humerus. The blue dotted lines represent the supraspinatus muscle as it passes under the A/C joint. Notice that the top portion is pushed downward creating friction which causes weakening of the supraspinatus muscle and pain in the shoulder.

Treatment for shoulder conditions such as this can sometimes be completed with soft tissue therapy including active release, passive stretching and specific exercises. However, in some cases surgery is the only treatment that can reduce the impingement.

Corporate health fairs provide opportunities for community interaction. Events of this nature require planning and coordination of resources and space. Volunteers and committees work together to create a cohesive plan.

There are many aspects to consider. What vendors will be contacted? What is the available budget? What venue and dimensions are available? Once vendors are secured, what specialized space might the vendors need? How will the health fair be promoted and will employees be allotted extra time to participate and browse?

Health care vendors present information, health screenings, samples, and gifts and may be allowed to sell their services. Workers need time to survey the scene and ask questions or participate in activities. Once the fair has ended, follow-up with staff to research attendance and to find out what information was relevant to those who did attend.

One company finds corporate health fairs ideal for encouraging a culture of wellness. Kim Murphy, InfoCision’s Vice President of Employee Benefits believes employees are key to the company’s success and deserve “every opportunity to lead healthier, happier lives.”

When a person finds out that I am a Chiropractor, I usually get asked about some type of pain they may be experiencing. I always start by asking them, “Who is your Chiropractor?” The majority of the time, they answer that they don’t have one. This answer always amazes me.

There are some great Chiropractors in Sydney.

There are some things to keep in mind when choosing a Chiropractor Sydney:

Make sure you feel comfortable with the Chiropractic center. Chiropractors have different personalities and opinions. They should never be too busy to answer any question you might have. They should always timely return your calls. A chiropractor’s staff should ALWAYS be professional and courteous.

What Chiropractic techniques do they use? Chiropractors tend to use the techniques they feel comfortable with and the techniques they get the best results with. Most importantly they should use a technique that makes you feel most comfortable. Ask your potential chiropractor to explain what techniques are used in the clinic.

Does your new Chiropractor have a simple straight-forward financial policy? Is it important to you that your Balmain Chiropractor is on your insurance plan? Does your Chiropractor offer payment options?

Does your Chiropractor have a good relationship with medical specialists in Sydney? If you have a condition that requires more aggressive treatment, can your Chiropractor obtain a timely referral to a neurologist or orthopedist?

Ask your friends or even your primary care doctor. I receive several referrals from medical doctors and I am grateful for their confidence. Ask your doctor if they can recommend someone.

Watch a group of 2-4 year olds running in circles for thirty minutes. There is significant cardio happening. Motivation? Fun. Now, how can a company develop a health program for their employees that incorporates the same spirit of enjoyment for adults?

Volkswagen’s Rolighetsteorin – The Fun Theory marketing strategy recently entered a new candidate into the internet scene. VW’s Piano Stairs video demonstrated that stair usage increased by 66% when transformed into a playable piano keyboard.

Although Piano Stairs was a social experiment as opposed to a wellness program, it served a similar purpose of motivating people to make a healthier choice. Billy Blanks took martial arts, cardio movement, and music and created a whole TaeBo empire of exercise entertainment.

Most people understand that 15-30 minutes of exercise improves health, yet they still find reasons to avoid participating. A corporate wellness program doesn’t have to be dull. Motivate and encourage employee participation by integrating fresh and fun ways to improve health.

Do you have access to a fitness center, yoga classes, and weight loss programs? What if these amenities were free and convenient to your workplace? The Cleveland Clinic’s employee wellness programs offer these perks along with $100 if workers lose 10% of their weight or work out in the gym 10 times a month for 10 months.

What will it take to get people into a healthier lifestyle? In order to encourage employee participation or conversely, to discourage lack of participation, two main methods are common. Some refer to them as the carrot-on-a-stick approach. Like the Cleveland Clinic, provide the carrot, appropriate incentives.

On the other hand, some have opted for the stick, penalizing employees by giving them higher premiums. This is to offset the higher costs of unhealthy employees’ health care.

This type of program, although unpopular with workers, has already taken effect in North Carolina and Alabama. Executives hope that employees will see the light one way or the other.

What office in Zurich includes a gym, fireman poles between floors, and a slide to the canteen? Google’s building is designed with long walkways to build employees’ pedometer readings. While not every company building is tailor-made for health purposes, plenty of businesses are taking company wellness into serious consideration.

Building a culture of health and wellness is a goal that is steadily gaining in popularity in the business world. Everyone wants to be healthy and those who regularly participate and operate in an environment that promotes health benefit immensely.

Jennifer Swanson, the Coordinator of Health and Wellness for The Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota helped organize a program for their 900 mall staff members that includes:

    weight management;
smoking cessation;
the Shape-Up Program;
Walk to Wellness Club;
Fruity Friday; and
Veggie Vensday.

HR Director, Susan Amundson says their program has really gotten employees excited about their health. The Walk to Wellness Club proved so successful that it was opened to the public. Now over 2,500 people are walking more than a mile at the mall. By providing accountability and incentives, The Mall of America has created a thriving health culture in the workplace and in the community.
